Once, a storyteller was reciting stories from the Ramayana to a group of listeners.
As he narrated the episode of Ravana abducting Sita, he noticed an old man among the listeners, clenching his fist.
"Ravana had imprisoned mother Sita in his Ashok Vatika", said the storyteller.
And he saw tears, rolling down the old man's eyes.
"When Hanuman reached the Ashok Vatika," continued the storyteller, He saw white flowers on the grass."
Suddenly, the old man shouted, "No! The flowers were red!"
The storyteller argued, "In the Ramayana, Valmiki has mentioned that the flowers were white."
"No! Believe me, the flowers were red!" said the old man sobbing.
The storyteller was awestruck.
Just then, a divine voice said, "The flowers were indeed white. But, they appeared red to Hanuman, since his eyes were red with anger and contempt for Ravana, who had imprisoned me."
The ethereal voice was that of mother Sita, and old man was none other than Hanuman.
The storyteller fell to the old man's feet.
Hanuman manifested in his actual form and blessed the storyteller.
It is believed that whenever and wherever Lord Rama's story is recited, the immortal Hanuman is present there.
Jai Shri Ram Jai Hanuman
